Why Clean Backgrounds Matter for Signatures
A photographed or scanned signature comes with a white or gray paper background, which shows as a box when you place it on a document. RemoveBG.cfd removes the paper so you get just the ink on a transparent background. It works best on dark ink on plain white paper.
- •Sign with a dark pen on plain white paper, with no lines or grid.
- •Photograph in even light without shadows, or use a flat scan.
- •Crop close to the signature before you start so the Removal has less to process.
Why signatures need a transparent background
When you paste a signature photo into a document, the paper comes with it. On a white page this may be barely visible, but over a colored area, a stamp line or a form field it leaves a visible box. A transparent PNG keeps only the ink.
A signature on paper is also not the same as a legally recognized e-signature process. The right method depends on the document and where you are, so check what the recipient or your jurisdiction requires.
How to get a clean result
Sign on plain white paper with a dark, fairly thick pen, since thin or light ink is harder to separate from the paper. Take the photo straight on in even light, or scan it flat. Shadows and creases can be read as part of the signature.
Upload a JPG, PNG or WebP of up to 15MB and 4096px per side. Run the Removal and check the thin strokes at full size, because pen lifts and fine tails are the first parts to break or fade.
Common problems
Gray patches usually mean uneven lighting or a shadow across the paper. Broken strokes usually mean light or thin ink. Ruled paper and printed lines can be treated as part of the subject.
If the result is poor, the fix is almost always a better photo, not a second Removal. Re-sign with a darker pen and retake the picture.
Using the signature safely
Treat a transparent signature file like a sensitive item. Anyone who has it can paste it into another document. Store it somewhere private, and avoid sending it as a loose image when a signing service would do.
Add it to a document only for a document you are authorized to sign.
