Specification tips
  • •Ensure the entire vehicle is in frame without parts cut off.
  • •Use our solid color preview to test showroom lighting contrasts.
  • •Add a soft ground shadow after placing the Cutout so the car does not float.

Why backgrounds matter for car photos

Vehicle photos are often taken outdoors on a lot, where other cars, signs, buildings and changing weather all end up in the frame. Buyers browsing listings want to compare vehicles, and a distracting scene makes that harder. A consistent backdrop makes your inventory look organized and professional.

A Cutout of the vehicle also lets you place it on branded showroom templates, promotional banners or social posts without reshooting.

Workflow: from Original to Cutout

Upload an Original of the whole vehicle in JPG, PNG or WebP, up to 15MB and 4096px per side. Run the Removal in your browser, then inspect the Cutout using the before and after slider and the backdrop previews. Look closely at wheels, mirrors, antennas and windows.

Download the transparent PNG and place it on your template. Add a soft ground shadow beneath the tires so the car does not appear to float.

Common mistakes

Windows and reflective paint are the hardest part. Glass can show the background through it, and a Removal may treat it as part of the scene. Another mistake is shooting at a distance where parts of the vehicle are cut off or hidden behind other objects. Low sun can also create deep shadows under the car that blend into the ground.

It is also easy to forget the gaps around wheels, between spokes and under the bumper. Check those areas for leftover background.

Tips for better edges

Shoot on an overcast day or in the shade for soft light, and keep the entire vehicle in frame with some margin. Keep the camera at a consistent height and angle across your inventory. Choose a spot where the background is far behind the car and has a different color than the paint.

After the Removal, zoom in on the roofline, mirrors, wheel arches and tires. If the window area looks wrong, decide whether you want to keep it transparent or fill it in your editor.

What to do after the Removal

Place the Cutout on your showroom background, add a ground shadow, and keep the same position and size for every vehicle. Check the current requirements of the listing site you use for image size and format. Keep the transparent PNG for banners and social posts.

Preparing consistent inventory photos

If you photograph many vehicles, agree on a simple routine: the same angles, the same distance, the same time of day when possible, and the same template for the finished image. A routine reduces retakes and makes Cutouts look uniform in a listing grid. Keep your Originals alongside the transparent PNGs so you can rerun a Removal on a better shot later, and label files with the stock number so nothing gets mixed up.
