Compress Image
Make images smaller for email, websites and upload limits. Pick a quality, compare sizes, then download.
Select Image
Drag & drop, paste, or browse. JPG, PNG, WEBP.
How to use Compress Image
- Choose a JPG, PNG or WebP image.
- Pick JPG or WebP output and move the quality slider. The new file size updates as you go.
- Download the compressed image.
How much quality to choose
80% is a good start for photos: most people can't see a difference from the original, and the file is often less than a third of a PNG's size. Below about 60%, blocky patches start to show in smooth areas such as skies and skin.
Screenshots, logos and images with text compress worse as JPG, because sharp edges pick up halos. Try WebP for those, or keep them as PNG.
Why the file can get larger
An image that was already saved as a small JPG may come out larger if you choose a higher quality than it was saved with. The tool shows the new size before you download, so lower the quality or keep the original when that happens.
